Human Gene TAX1BP1 (uc003szl.3)
  Description: Homo sapiens Tax1 (human T-cell leukemia virus type I) binding protein 1 (TAX1BP1), transcript variant 1, mRNA.
RefSeq Summary (NM_006024): This gene encodes a HTLV-1 tax1 binding protein. The encoded protein interacts with TNFAIP3, and inhibits TNF-induced apoptosis by mediating the TNFAIP3 anti-apoptotic activity. Degradation of this protein by caspase-3-like family proteins is associated with apoptosis induced by TNF. This protein may also have a role in the inhibition of inflammatory signaling pathways. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.[provided by RefSeq, May 2011].

DESCRIPTION: RecName: Full=Tax1-binding protein 1; AltName: Full=TRAF6-binding protein;
FUNCTION: Inhibits TNF-induced apoptosis by mediating the TNFAIP3 anti-apoptotic activity. Degraded by caspase-3-like family proteins upon TNF-induced apoptosis. May also play a role in the pro-inflammatory cytokine IL-1 signaling cascade.
SUBUNIT: Homooligomer. Interacts with TRAF6 in a IL-1-dependent manner. Interacts with TNFAIP3. Interacts with STARD13. Interacts with the HTLV-1 protein Tax-1.
INTERACTION: O15111:CHUK; NbExp=2; IntAct=EBI-529518, EBI-81249; Q9Y3M8:STARD13; NbExp=2; IntAct=EBI-529518, EBI-465487; Q9Y4K3:TRAF6; NbExp=3; IntAct=EBI-529518, EBI-359276;
TISSUE SPECIFICITY: Expressed in all tissues tested.
PTM: Phosphorylated in the C-terminal region by CHUK/IKKA leading to NF-kappa-B signaling down-regulation.
SEQUENCE CAUTION: Sequence=AAC13359.2; Type=Erroneous gene model prediction;

-  Orthologous Genes in Other Species
  Orthologies between human, mouse, and rat are computed by taking the best BLASTP hit, and filtering out non-syntenic hits. For more distant species reciprocal-best BLASTP hits are used. Note that the absence of an ortholog in the table below may reflect incomplete annotations in the other species rather than a true absence of the orthologous gene.
