-  Comments and Description Text from UniProtKB
  ID: RPP25_HUMAN
DESCRIPTION: RecName: Full=Ribonuclease P protein subunit p25; Short=RNase P protein subunit p25; EC=3.1.26.5;
FUNCTION: Component of ribonuclease P, a protein complex that generates mature tRNA molecules by cleaving their 5'-ends. Also a component of RNase MRP. This subunit binds to RNA.
CATALYTIC ACTIVITY: Endonucleolytic cleavage of RNA, removing 5'- extranucleotides from tRNA precursor.
SUBUNIT: Component of nuclear RNase P and RNase MRP ribonucleoproteins. RNase P consists of a RNA moiety and at least 8 protein subunits; POP1, RPP14, RPP20/POP7, RPP25, RPP29/POP4, RPP30, RPP38 and RPP40. Interacts with the P3 domain of RNase MRP complex. RNase MRP consists of a RNA moiety and at least 9 protein subunits; POP1, RPP14, RPP20/POP7, RPP25, RPP29/POP4, RPP30, RPP38, RPP40, POP5 and RPP21.
INTERACTION: O95707:POP4; NbExp=2; IntAct=EBI-366570, EBI-366477; O75817:POP7; NbExp=2; IntAct=EBI-366570, EBI-366574;
SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Nucleus.
SIMILARITY: Belongs to the histone-like Alba family.

Primer3Plus can design qPCR Primers that straddle exon-exon-junctions, which amplify only cDNA, not genomic DNA.
Click here to load the transcript sequence and exon structure into Primer3Plus

Exonprimer can design one pair of Sanger sequencing primers around every exon, located in non-genic sequence.

The RNAfold program from the Vienna RNA Package is used to perform the secondary structure predictions and folding calculations. The estimated folding energy is in kcal/mol. The more negative the energy, the more secondary structure the RNA is likely to have.

The pictures above may be empty if there is no ModBase structure for the protein. The ModBase structure frequently covers just a fragment of the protein. You may be asked to log onto ModBase the first time you click on the pictures. It is simplest after logging in to just click on the picture again to get to the specific info on that model.

-  Orthologous Genes in Other Species
  Orthologies between human, mouse, and rat are computed by taking the best BLASTP hit, and filtering out non-syntenic hits. For more distant species reciprocal-best BLASTP hits are used. Note that the absence of an ortholog in the table below may reflect incomplete annotations in the other species rather than a true absence of the orthologous gene.
