Human Gene ZUP1 (ENST00000368576.8) from GENCODE V44
  Description: Homo sapiens zinc finger containing ubiquitin peptidase 1 (ZUP1), transcript variant 8, non-coding RNA. (from RefSeq NR_154589)
RefSeq Summary (NM_145062): This gene encodes a protein containing zinc finger motifs and a cysteine peptidase domain. The encoded protein functions as a K63-specific de-ubiquitinating enzyme that specifically cleaves long K63-linked polyubiquitin chains in the middle of a chain (i.e. 'endo cleavage) rather than by removing the terminal ubiquitin from a chain. This enzyme is thought to be involved in the regulation of DNA repair by cleaving K63-linked ubiquitin chains at repair foci. This protein is related to proteases for the ubiquitin-like modifiers Ufm1 (ubiquitin fold modifier 1) and Atg8/Gabarapl2, but does not have any activity on these modifiers. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2018].

-  Comments and Description Text from UniProtKB
  ID: ZUFSP_HUMAN
DESCRIPTION: RecName: Full=Zinc finger with UFM1-specific peptidase domain protein;
SIMILARITY: Contains 3 C2H2-type zinc fingers.
CAUTION: Although related to the Ufm1-specific proteases, it lacks the conserved His active site, suggesting that it is probably inactive.
SEQUENCE CAUTION: Sequence=CAI20499.1; Type=Erroneous gene model prediction;

Primer3Plus can design qPCR Primers that straddle exon-exon-junctions, which amplify only cDNA, not genomic DNA.
Click here to load the transcript sequence and exon structure into Primer3Plus

Exonprimer can design one pair of Sanger sequencing primers around every exon, located in non-genic sequence.

The RNAfold program from the Vienna RNA Package is used to perform the secondary structure predictions and folding calculations. The estimated folding energy is in kcal/mol. The more negative the energy, the more secondary structure the RNA is likely to have.

-  Orthologous Genes in Other Species
  Orthologies between human, mouse, and rat are computed by taking the best BLASTP hit, and filtering out non-syntenic hits. For more distant species reciprocal-best BLASTP hits are used. Note that the absence of an ortholog in the table below may reflect incomplete annotations in the other species rather than a true absence of the orthologous gene.
