Human Gene DUSP19 (ENST00000354221.5) from GENCODE V44
Description: Homo sapiens dual specificity phosphatase 19 (DUSP19), transcript variant 4, non-coding RNA. (from RefSeq NR_135688)
RefSeq Summary (NM_080876): Dual-specificity phosphatases (DUSPs) constitute a large heterogeneous subgroup of the type I cysteine-based protein-tyrosine phosphatase superfamily. DUSPs are characterized by their ability to dephosphorylate both tyrosine and serine/threonine residues. They have been implicated as major modulators of critical signaling pathways. DUSP19 contains a variation of the consensus DUSP C-terminal catalytic domain, with the last serine residue replaced by alanine, and lacks the N-terminal CH2 domain found in the MKP (mitogen-activated protein kinase phosphatase) class of DUSPs (see MIM 600714) (summary by Patterson et al., 2009 [PubMed 19228121]).[supplied by OMIM, Dec 2009].

FUNCTION: Has a dual specificity toward Ser/Thr and Tyr-containing proteins.
CATALYTIC ACTIVITY: Protein tyrosine phosphate + H(2)O = protein tyrosine + phosphate.
CATALYTIC ACTIVITY: A phosphoprotein + H(2)O = a protein + phosphate.
TISSUE SPECIFICITY: Expressed in the heart, lung, liver, and pancreas. The expression level in the pancreas is the highest.
SIMILARITY: Belongs to the protein-tyrosine phosphatase family. Non-receptor class dual specificity subfamily.
SIMILARITY: Contains 1 tyrosine-protein phosphatase domain.

Primer3Plus can design qPCR Primers that straddle exon-exon-junctions, which amplify only cDNA, not genomic DNA.
Click here to load the transcript sequence and exon structure into Primer3Plus

Exonprimer can design one pair of Sanger sequencing primers around every exon, located in non-genic sequence.

The pictures above may be empty if there is no ModBase structure for the protein. The ModBase structure frequently covers just a fragment of the protein. You may be asked to log onto ModBase the first time you click on the pictures. It is simplest after logging in to just click on the picture again to get to the specific info on that model.

-  Orthologous Genes in Other Species
Orthologies between human, mouse, and rat are computed by taking the best BLASTP hit, and filtering out non-syntenic hits. For more distant species reciprocal-best BLASTP hits are used. Note that the absence of an ortholog in the table below may reflect incomplete annotations in the other species rather than a true absence of the orthologous gene.
