Human Gene MAGEA11 (ENST00000355220.6) from GENCODE V44
Description: Homo sapiens MAGE family member A11 (MAGEA11), transcript variant 1, mRNA. (from RefSeq NM_005366) RefSeq Summary (NM_005366): This gene is a member of the MAGEA gene family. The members of this family encode proteins with 50 to 80% sequence identity to each other. The promoters and first exons of the MAGEA genes show considerable variability, suggesting that the existence of this gene family enables the same function to be expressed under different transcriptional controls. The MAGEA genes are clustered at chromosomal location Xq28. They have been implicated in some hereditary disorders, such as dyskeratosis congenita. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]. May play a role in embryonal development and tumor transformation or aspects of tumor progression. INTERACTION: Q96AJ1:CLUAP1; NbExp=2; IntAct=EBI-739552, EBI-739780; Q9H788:SH2D4A; NbExp=2; IntAct=EBI-739552, EBI-747035; Q15560:TCEA2; NbExp=2; IntAct=EBI-739552, EBI-710310; SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Nucleus. Cytoplasm. TISSUE SPECIFICITY: Expressed in tumors of several types, such as melanoma, head and neck squamous cell carcinoma, lung carcinoma and breast carcinoma. Expressed in testis, ovary, prostate, cancerous prostate, breast and adrenal tissue. SIMILARITY: Contains 1 MAGE domain. SEQUENCE CAUTION: Sequence=AAA68870.1; Type=Erroneous gene model prediction;
The RNAfold program from the Vienna RNA Package is used to perform the secondary structure predictions and folding calculations. The estimated folding energy is in kcal/mol. The more negative the energy, the more secondary structure the RNA is likely to have.

The pictures above may be empty if there is no ModBase structure for the protein. The ModBase structure frequently covers just a fragment of the protein. You may be asked to log onto ModBase the first time you click on the pictures. It is simplest after logging in to just click on the picture again to get to the specific info on that model.
Orthologous Genes in Other Species
Orthologies between human, mouse, and rat are computed by taking the best BLASTP hit, and filtering out non-syntenic hits. For more distant species reciprocal-best BLASTP hits are used. Note that the absence of an ortholog in the table below may reflect incomplete annotations in the other species rather than a true absence of the orthologous gene.
