Evidence: Indeed, both NaBu and IL-1beta led to increased recruitment of NF-kappa B p65, C/EBPbeta, and C/EBP delta, and decreased NF-kappa B p50 and C/EBP alpha DNA-binding to the proximal SAA2 promoter,

(increases, IL1B Activity)
Nie et al., Mol Cell Biol 2003*
Evidence: In our cell system, treatment with IL-1 (1 ng/ml for 1 h) induced the nuclear protein-DNA complexes (Fig. 5D, lane 2) with the COX-2 NF–IL-6 probe compared to the control (lane 1), which were abolished by C/EBP antibody accompanied by a retarded band (lane 4). In contrast, C/EBP antibody did not alter the complexes (lane 3), demonstrating that IL-1 induces C/EBP binding to the COX-2 NF–IL-6 element.

In addition, forced expression of C/EBPbeta could mimic the IL-1beta effect on the promoter activity, but subsequent mutation analysis of the C/EBP binding sites indicated that direct
C/EBP binding to the promoter is not
required for the
IL-1beta response

Inhibition of IL-1beta mediated C3 promoter activation by the dominant negative mutant of p38-alpha mitogen activated protein kinase suggests that
IL-1beta induces C3 expression through the activation of

Since
IL-1beta activates NFkappaB, AP-1 and
C/EBP , we over expressed these transcription factors alone and in combination and found that only NFkappaB alone increased FP mRNA expression
